Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50 – White – Floorstanding Speaker

About the Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50 – White – Floorstanding Speaker:

Price per pair, sold and delivered per pair

  • The Gelcore™ cabinet construction reduces higher frequency cabinet noise.
  • P2P™ (Point to Point™) internal bracing stiffens the cabinet to minimize lower frequency vibration.
  • HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer™) reduces internal pressure and standing waves.
  • Isolating suspension base eliminates unwanted external and internal vibrations.
  • The driver assembly is mounted to the front aluminium baffle with pre-tensioned studs to provide the correct acoustic seal, dampen vibrations and minimise the structural coupling of the assembly to the main cabinet.
  • Thorough mid/bass and tweeter driver design for improved power handling.
  • The high-frequency driver is fully hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated (floating) from the front baffle to protect it from internal resonances of the mid/bass driver.
  • The crossover design is mounted on the isolation base to minimize any microphonic signals and keep away from electromagnetic fields radiated by the drive units.

Suitable for larger spaces, the Concept 50 offers truly high-quality home audio performance without the high price tag. Every element of acoustic innovation in the Concept 50 is focused on designing the quietest possible cabinet. Unaffected by internal and external resonances, these speakers deliver focused stereo imaging, precise audio, and an expansive holographic soundstage to emulate a live performance at home.

This floorstander has a higher sensitivity for improved dynamics and impresses with its pure musicality and eerily realistic soundstage.

Controlled power of the Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50

Designed as an integral part of the cabinet's mechanical structure, both the 5-inch mid/bass and 0,9-inch tweeter drivers are new, ground-up designs specifically for the Concept 30, 50, and 90 speakers. The drive units are secured to a remarkably rigid 3mm aluminum baffle plate before being mounted to the cabinet. This provides the proper acoustic seal, dampens vibrations, and minimizes structural coupling.

Elsewhere, the tweeter is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated (floating) from the baffle, resulting in reduced distortion and a lower crossover point for seamless integration throughout the crossover region. With a diameter of 30,5 mm, the mid/bass driver's larger voice coil increases motor strength, resulting in a 50% increase in power handling compared to a comparable driver with a 25,4 mm voice coil.

Finally, the crossover itself is mounted to the isolation base, keeping it free from sound-affecting vibrations and away from the electromagnetic influence of the drivers themselves.

HPE™ technology (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer™)

The nature of the Concept 50 tower design can introduce unwanted standing waves into the cabinet. By utilizing an HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer™) tube design, first introduced in the Concept 500, pressure is converted into velocity to eliminate these performance-affecting vibrations and help deliver the ideal frequency response.

Elegant design

Featuring the same refined design lines and stunning, high-gloss finish as the flagship 300 and 500 models, the new series retains the signature aluminum front baffle that made the original Concept speakers so iconic. The Concept 50 comes in three striking finishes: black, silver, and white.

Gelcore™ technology of the Q Acoustics Q CONCEPT 50

The Gelcore™ cabinet construction, introduced in the original Concept speaker, is designed to minimize high-frequency noise. A unique design consists of a non-hardening gel sandwiched between two separate layers. This specially developed adhesive dissipates high-frequency vibrations generated by the moving drivers into heat, maintaining a focused audio performance.

Insulation suspension system

A variation on the highly effective "isolation base" principle first seen on the Concept 300, the Concept 50 features a suspension system in the form of a spring-loaded base plate. Two plates are separated by suspension spheres that effectively isolate the cabinet from interference from external vibrations, creating a tighter stereo image and greater depth.

P2P™ technology (Point to Point™)

To maximize cabinet rigidity, P2P™ (Point to Point™) internal bracing is used. First introduced in the Concept 500, this bracing is applied to the inner areas of the cabinet prone to low-frequency reverberation.

Using Finite Element Analysis and laser interferometry to examine cabinet performance down to a microscopic level, P2P™ bracing was applied to the speaker cabinet.

By implementing this state-of-the-art technology, Q Acoustics has been able to identify and apply bracing to only the precise points of the cabinet requiring additional support, thereby dissipating unwanted energy rather than transmitting it throughout the cabinet.

Bi-Wire terminals

All Concept Series models feature Bi-Wire terminals on the back of the cabinet. This allows you to run two pairs of cables from your power source (amplifier) to the speaker using a compatible speaker cable. One set of cables carries the high-frequency signals, while the second pair carries the mid/low frequencies.

The advantage of separating these frequencies by biwiring is twofold: intermodulation distortion caused by interactions between the high and low frequencies running through the cable can be minimized, resulting in a noticeable improvement in mid-range clarity.
