Flexible placement in the room
Placement within a room can affect the timing of sound arrival, while even placing it next to the subwoofer can introduce phase alignment issues, impacting the system's frequency response. The Q SUB Series utilizes digital signal processing (DSP), combined with precision delay adjustments and a phase inversion switch, to address these integration challenges. This technology allows users to optimize settings for class-leading performance, ensuring seamless integration with other speakers without the need for professional installation.
Source detection
Subwoofers must be able to handle a wide range of audio sources, including stereo preamp outputs or mono inputs from powered speakers or home theater systems. The Q SUB series uses a complex algorithm within its DSP to identify the input signal type—stereo or mono—and its level, automatically adjusting the system gain. This ensures optimal signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range, enhancing performance regardless of the connected source.

The Q SUB series is available in two modern yet classic finishes: Satin Black with a black grille or Satin White with a grey grille. The new models join the sleek 3060S and complete the wider Q Acoustics subwoofer family.
Power amplifier
The Q SUB amplifier module, custom-designed by Q Acoustics, incorporates a DSP, power amplifier, and power supply. It features four digital power amplifier stages in a parallel bridge-tied load (PBTL) configuration, improving efficiency and speaker control by reducing output impedance and heat dissipation. This design can deliver up to 300W continuous and 600W peak power, with exceptional total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 0,1% at 300W.
Frequency response adjustment
Subwoofers require an adjustable low-pass filter to align their high-frequency response with the bass slurring of other speakers. The Q SUB series features a low-pass filter with a frequency adjustment from 40 Hz to 250 Hz, with a -6 dB range. This wide range allows the Q SUB models to seamlessly integrate with and complement the low-frequency response of any paired speaker system.
Q Acoustics SUB80 driver design
The drivers feature a robust steel chassis, a paper cone, and a rubber surround. The bass driver diameters are 203 mm (Q SUB80), 254 mm (Q SUB100), and 305 mm (Q SUB120). The voice coils are 38 mm for the Q SUB80/100 and 50 mm for the Q SUB120, with an aluminum demodulation ring for reduced induction-induced modulation distortion.
Housing design
An infinite baffle design (sealed cabinet) delivers tight, focused bass, combined with DSP for precise acoustic tuning. The absence of a port simplifies placement near walls and furniture. The Q SUB enclosures are constructed of 18mm high-density MDF with a 36mm thick baffle for added strength. Internal bracing enhances stability, reduces cabinet swelling, and ensures optimal performance under high internal pressure.
