Point Source Speaker System

The newly designed flat, coaxial 2-way speaker unit (woofer and tweeter) allows for a point source, resulting in a smooth frequency response without peaks or dips across the entire frequency range. This allows the Technics Speaker System not only to precisely place sounds but also to recreate the ambiance of a large hall.

Technics has developed its own proprietary two-way flat coaxial speaker unit to faithfully reproduce midrange and high frequencies. The woofer's cone features a flat sandwich construction, with the core consisting of an aluminum honeycomb structure covered with a cloth of lightweight and extremely rigid carbon fiber.
It maintains its perfect pistonic action past the crossover frequency to the tweeter, preventing the dip in frequency response typically found in cone speakers. The magnet system utilizes a large magnet, a copper cover, a copper ring, and a short voice coil with futuristic skewed windings, allowing it to handle high currents and achieve low distortion. The basket is cast from solid aluminum and features arms that dissipate resonances, eliminating even the slightest unwanted vibrations. Together, they guarantee accurate and dynamic bass reproduction.

Sturdy Enclosure with Entasis Shape

The enclosure must provide a solid base for the speaker drivers, prevent unwanted resonance, and ensure that sound waves are reproduced smoothly and without diffraction reflection. For the side panels, which are large and prone to resonance, curved panels made of sturdy 42mm thick sheet metal are used to reduce diffraction reflection.
The monocoque enclosure, whose six panels meet at the edges, is highly rigid because each panel of this cubic structure reinforces the adjacent one. This reduces unwanted resonances generated by the diffraction of sound waves on the panels and the enclosure. The acoustic damping material and its positioning are optimized for both the frequency response of the various drivers and the cabinet volume, thus suppressing unwanted standing waves within the enclosure.
The rear bass reflex port is a parabolic port whose curvature changes continuously from inlet to outlet and is determined by a quadratic function. It suppresses both the Karman vortex generated at the sound outlet and wind-induced noise within the sound outlet, producing smooth and powerful bass with minimal noise.
The high-gloss cabinet, achieved through an intensive process of lacquering, sanding, polishing, and finishing with a high degree of craftsmanship, complements the speaker's high sound quality. The cabinet is not only aesthetically pleasing but also suppresses subtle vibrations within the cabinet's surface, contributing to the true-to-life and rich sound experience.

High-quality crossover filter

The high-quality crossover was developed through continuous design and listening, ensuring optimal performance of each speaker unit and balanced sound. To prevent electrical interference between the speakers and minimize the effect of vibration, the three separate circuit boards for the woofer, midrange, and tweeter are ideally positioned within the enclosure, enabling exceptionally realistic sound reproduction.

Extremely Wide Frequency Range

The Technics speaker system boasts an extremely wide frequency response up to 100kHz, allowing it to reproduce the entire frequency spectrum of high-quality, high-resolution music sources. This results in faithful reproduction of audio signals with all their nuances.
