The Latest Cordless Direct Drive Motor Achieves High-Precision Stable Rotation
The technologies acquired through the development of the SL-1200 series and the high-end SL-1000R model are richly integrated into the motor drive unit, a key component of the turntable. The motor utilizes the single-rotor, cordless direct-drive motor adopted from the SL-1200GR to achieve high rotational precision and high-precision signal reading from the recording. Optimal motor control is provided for the inertial mass of the two-layer structure platter upon which the vinyl record is placed, with damping rubber applied to the entire back surface to eliminate unwanted resonance within the aluminum die-cast platter, thus preventing rotational irregularity, also known as cogging. The aluminum die-cast chassis is rigidly integrated with a special material consisting of ABS mixed with fiberglass to create a two-layer construction. The insulator consists of a spring and rubber to ensure optimal vibration damping characteristics. The tonearm features a universal S-shape with static balance, another Technics tradition. By adopting a high-precision bearing and using the same gimbal suspension construction and housing as the SL-1200 series, high initial sensitivity is achieved. Furthermore, reliability has been enhanced by the inclusion of a detachable power cord and gold-plated terminals, which ensure minimal degradation of sound quality for the PHONO and LINE jacks.

To further enhance the enjoyment of playing analog records, the SL-1500C features a built-in phono equalizer and a bundled cartridge. There's no need to prepare a separate cartridge, making it easy to connect to a wide variety of audio equipment. The shielding structure of the built-in phono equalizer suppresses the effects of external noise and power supply noise. It's also equipped with a switch to disable the LINE output when not in use. The turntable is designed to eliminate any adverse effects of the PHONO output. The dedicated power supply for the PHONO output jack is isolated from the power supply for the LINE output jack and is designed to prioritize sound quality by minimizing the wiring of the PHONO signal. The isolated outputs also prevent miswiring. An Ortofon 2M RED cartridge, highly praised as an MM cartridge, has been selected for the bundled cartridge. Combining this high-quality cartridge with the performance of the SL-1500C will maximize the sound quality of vinyl records.
Equipped with an Auto Lifter Function, Allowing You to Enjoy Playing Records More Comfortably
Once the tonearm reaches the end of the record, the auto-lifter function automatically raises the cartridge. This prevents unnecessary wear on your valuable vinyl records and stylus. By integrating the auto-lifter function into the base of the tonearm, any effects on the tonearm are eliminated. Thanks to a simple design that doesn't use a motor, there's no electrical or vibration impact, and the tonearm's movement is unhindered. In response to numerous user requests regarding the auto-lifter function, a design was chosen that prioritizes sound quality. The functions required for playing records have been kept to a minimum, making the unit simple and user-friendly.
