The CD-S303 CD player features many components found in high-end CD players and offers sound quality that will satisfy even the most dedicated music lover. Besides CDs, music files stored on USB devices can also be played in high quality via a front-panel USB port.

The CD-S303 supports Pure Direct—the same popular feature found in Yamaha amplifiers and receivers. Pressing the button on the front panel or remote control mutes the digital audio output and display. This results in the lowest possible noise interference and therefore the highest possible sound quality from the analog audio output.

Yamaha engineers invested considerable time and effort in the overall layout of components and circuit boards, which significantly impacts sound quality. The power connections for the motor drive, display, and USB sections, as well as the digital and analog sections, are individually isolated to prevent electromagnetic interference. The drive mechanism is located in the center of the unit for ideal weight balance and stable performance.

The highly logical and symmetrical internal layout of the components and boards is designed to keep the signal paths on each board as short as possible. This purposeful design also ensures that the paths between the various sections are straight and short, minimizing the risk of signal loss or interference – which is not easy to achieve.

Every individual element of a CD player influences the sound quality. Therefore, Yamaha meticulously selects and coordinates all components and materials. A high-quality acoustic capacitor, a new op-amp with ultra-low noise and high-gain bandwidth, and the use of damping material under the transformer and around the signal cables are just a few examples of Yamaha's attention to high sound quality. The internal design of the CD-S303 is of a standard normally found only in much more expensive models.

The high-quality D/A conversion system with a 192 kHz/24-bit DAC takes full advantage of the digital technology that Yamaha has refined over the years. This results in outstanding characteristics for accuracy, signal-to-noise ratio, and dynamic range.

The laser pickup is isolated on a floating mechanism so that its delicate operation cannot be affected by vibrations.

Conventional servo tracking circuits cannot completely prevent errors caused by warped discs, dust, and other imperfections. Therefore, this system, specifically for CDs, uses a reliable DSP (Digital Signal Processor) to monitor the signal. Pickup tracking and focus, as well as spindle motor speed, are adjusted to compensate for any problems.

The front-panel USB port lets you easily listen to high-quality audio from digital MP3, WMA, LPCM, AAC, or FLAC music files stored on USB devices. You can also play files stored on CD-R/RW discs.

Information about the CD currently playing is displayed on the right side of the CD player's display. The CD text display with three modes shows the CD title, artist name, and track title.

It's very easy to program the songs you want to hear in any order you like. You can clear the program at any time with a single button press.
